Tokyo International Progressive School

Tokyo International Progressive School (TIPS) is an international school for students in grades 4 through 12, providing alternative education for those with mild learning differences, academic, emotional, and/or social challenges. Established in 2000, TIPS is committed to offering high-quality instruction tailored to each student's learning needs, including differentiated instruction, specific seating, posted learning objectives, note-taking assistance, structured routines, color coding, assistive technology, movement breaks, chunking large assignments, simplified directions, check for understanding, use of timer, and support identifying and meeting deadlines. The school employs specialists such as occupational therapists, speech therapists, counselors, and learning support coordinators to meet students' needs. Small academic classrooms with up to 10 students allow for extensive teacher attention and support. Approximately 85% of TIPS graduates attend post-secondary institutions worldwide. TIPS is unable to meet the learning needs of those with extensive learning differences. The school is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all children, ensuring a safe, supportive, and respectful environment through regular staff training and adherence to international best practices.
